Welcome to Drawcamp!

DrawCamp is an all day series of seminars on all things drawing.
It's Milwaukee's (and maybe the world's) first drawing unconference.

FigureSketchVisualize

What happens? What can I expect? What's the point? Who's it for?

In an unconference-style event you come and go as you please, even from session to session, and you get to propose and even present the sessions you think would be most interesting. Multiple classes will be held simultaneously in several rooms. Topics will range from fine-art representational drawing, to illustration, to back-of-the-napkin idea-sharing and visual note-taking.  Attend all of them or just a few. Mix and match themes according to your interests.

The big idea is to shake up your thinking and break down your barriers. Teach, learn, make new friends, join a community, expand your drawing, illustrating, doodling, and mark-making horizons. All ages are welcome. Total beginners are totally welcome - so are old saws and seasoned pros.

How do I attend?

Register on this website and your attendance will be counted. You can then propose the sessions you would like to present, or vote on the sessions that others have proposed. We will use this list to prepare the final list of sessions--but don't worry, there will be many opportunities for sessions the day of the event.

How much does it cost?

DrawCamp is free, however, we request that you make a donation. The proceeds will be used for two worthy causes. Money will be split between scholarship aid for MIAD's precollege program and Artworks for Milwaukee's teen art education program. Let's spread the value of drawing and art to young people in Milwaukee!

What should I bring?

Bring your own drawing materials if you have them. The DrawCamp organizers will provide some basic materials but you should expect to bring your own paper, pens, and pencils. Bucketworks is equipped with wi-fi, chairs, tables, and plenty of space for presenting and exhibiting the work.

Mike Rohde and the origin of Sketchnotes

Daria Kempa made a really cool video about how drawcamp guide Mike Rohde developed sketchnotes. To find out about the brigade of sketchnoters, look no futher than the Sketchnote Army.
